Welcome to Mother Grove, Maggie!

We’re happy to announce that Maggie Davis will be joining Mother Grove on fiddle and vocals!

I’m certain many of you will remember Maggie from when she filled in for Laura a few years ago.

Maggie is a classically trained violinist who started at age 10, but her real passion has always been for folk and rock music. She plays in a multitude of styles, but prefers Celtic rock to everything else.

Her musical diversity shows in the many different projects in which she’s been involved, such as orchestras and churches as a classical violinist, to gracing the stage as a member of several bands of many styles including: Keywise (recording), Fault line, Alair, Ennis Clare, The Indianapolis Ceili Band, The Whigmaleeries, Iron Curtain Meltdown, and Five Year Mission (recording).

Maggie says, “I am beyond excited to be back with Mother Grove, and can’t wait for our first show!”

The feeling is mutual!

Maggie’s first show will be in front of a hometown crowd at The Brockway Pub in Carmel, IN on Friday, December 9th

The Brockway Public House
12525 Old Meridian
Carmel, Indiana 46032
Show starts at 9:30pm

Come out and give Maggie a wonderful MoGrovian welcome!

A Fond Farewell to Our Fiddling Friend.

It’s with a bit o’tears in our pints that as of November 4th 2011, we must say good bye to our fiddler of over 8 years, Laura.

Laura says it’s a bittersweet decision, one that she has thought about a great deal over the past few months.

She is focusing on her family who have been so incredibly supportive and patient while she’s toured the country playing her heart out for the best fans in the world!

For those who know Laura, music is a big part of her life, so she’s not going to stop making music. She hopes to finally finish her solo CD and continue working on musical projects closer to home. (We’ll keep you all up to date on her musical activities!)

Says Laura, “Who knows what life has in store for me going forward?” “Life is all about the journey, not just the destination, and I thank you for letting me be a part of yours for so long. Slainte’ and God bless.”

You can drop Laura a message at laura@mothergrove.com or leave a message on the Mother Grove Facebook page www.facebook.com/mothergrove

Latest CD “Water of Life” Now Available!

Water of Life CD Cover

The 7th CD from Mother Grove entitled “Water of Life” is now available at the Mother Grove Store!

A trip to Orkney, Scotland inspired the song ” Uisge Beatha”, (Gaelic for the phrase “Water of Life” ) and the stage was set for a new Mother grove CD!

With an emphasis on songwriting, this disc showcases the many facets of the band and their growth  musically, individually and collectively. The upbeat, fun and energetic songs are there; “Back Again Someday” is a fun rock/blues number with copious bagpipes and hooks. “Drunk at MacCool’s” is a foot stomping, sing along about a night at their favorite (but sadly, now closed) Indianapolis pub Fionn MacCool’s.
