Kentucky Scottish Weekend this Saturday!

Kentucky Scottish Weekend this Saturday 5/12/12 with Pictus and 7N! Show times posted at: http://www.kyscottishweekend.org/

Welcome to Mother Grove, Maggie!

We’re happy to announce that Maggie Davis will be joining Mother Grove on fiddle and vocals!

I’m certain many of you will remember Maggie from when she filled in for Laura a few years ago.

Maggie is a classically trained violinist who started at age 10, but her real passion has always been for folk and rock music. She plays in a multitude of styles, but prefers Celtic rock to everything else.

Her musical diversity shows in the many different projects in which she’s been involved, such as orchestras and churches as a classical violinist, to gracing the stage as a member of several bands of many styles including: Keywise (recording), Fault line, Alair, Ennis Clare, The Indianapolis Ceili Band, The Whigmaleeries, Iron Curtain Meltdown, and Five Year Mission (recording).

Maggie says, “I am beyond excited to be back with Mother Grove, and can’t wait for our first show!”

The feeling is mutual!

Latest CD “Water of Life” Now Available!

Water of Life CD Cover

The 7th CD from Mother Grove entitled “Water of Life” is now available at the Mother Grove Store!

A trip to Orkney, Scotland inspired the song ” Uisge Beatha”, (Gaelic for the phrase “Water of Life” ) and the stage was set for a new Mother grove CD!

With an emphasis on songwriting, this disc showcases the many facets of the band and their growth  musically, individually and collectively. The upbeat, fun and energetic songs are there; “Back Again Someday” is a fun rock/blues number with copious bagpipes and hooks. “Drunk at MacCool’s” is a foot stomping, sing along about a night at their favorite (but sadly, now closed) Indianapolis pub Fionn MacCool’s.
