Hey, all,
Been hearing bad tales of wind and rain back in Indy and Dayton...Is everyone okay?  I know power's out for a lot of folks, and net access may not be easy, but I'm just hoping that no news is good news!

Be safe!

Well - lots of folks in Dayton still have no power, either at home or at work.  Guess they sent half of their crews to TX for Hurricane Ike.  Hmmmmmm.....  Columbus, OH is also struggling.

Indy - not so bad.  I was out of power from around 4-8 PM on Sunday but that was it.  Most folks got their power back by early Monday AM.

Keep Dayton fans in your thoughts and prayers!  Food has now gone bad for lots of people - and not everyone has gas water heaters! Brrrrrr.

I was at the track on Sunday during the windstorm.  Let me tell you, its definitely hard to keep from blowing away in 65 mph winds on bleachers!  Luckily, we all hunkered down together in our ponchos to keep from blowing or washing away!

I was just completely impressed with how the motorcycles were doing during MotoGP (which is why we were at the track!).  They made it to the "calling it quits" lap of 21 before they waved the red flag.  But there were ZERO accidents during that race.  Riding up to 230 mph, on hairpin turns, in rain and 65mph winds, and not one MotoGP racer laid his bike down.  Seriously some talented riders...

As for me, I had some wind-burn on my face, and a very cold and wet tushie (from the rain, people!), but it was a very good day.

I hope the power comes back on for you Dayton and Columbus folks soon!

Shocked Shocked Shocked As our Mother grows warmer so does the increase of what
we call hurricanes! Hurricanes are no more than giant mobile
radiators for our mother to release the excessive heat and
to cool our earth down. Now if you live or wander into one,
well all I would say "get the scotch out"! WUUUUUUUUUUU
May everyone have a safe and HAPPY MABON!

Hey all --- electricity finally back on at my place -- it was out for 7 full days (almost to the minute).  Luckily we have a gas hot water heater, so showers were possible by candle light.  Got lots of reading done with the help of a book light and rechargeable batteries that I recharged at work a few times!

We lost entire contents of the fridge/freezer, a major limb from a tree, lotsa branches/twigs, a piece of aluminum & downspouts, part of the dryer vent on the roof, and quite a few shingles (all the way to the plywood).  It's gonna be weird to turn in a "hurricane" claim in OHIO.

The best was we had no rain & mild temperatures.  The worst was we had to sleep with windows & doors open and a spider bit me on the NECK!  I'm extremely sensitive to insect bites & this one left me itching, dizzy & nauseated for the better part of the week & week-end.  Luckily, I found the cure on Saturday night -- an Irish Carbomb!  Yep, just a few drinks and a carbomb apparently killed all the toxin in my system & I'm good to go! (except for the 'midgie' bites I got in St. Charles -- now they're itching like crazy?!?!?)

Glad to be back on-line & in touch again.  Thanks for all the kind thoughts & concern ~~ :Di ~~
